IndieFlix streaming service - Recommendations?

Being on T-Mobile, for one of their promotional "T-Mobile Tuesdays", I decided to take up the offer for 3 months of IndieFlix for free. As someone who usually only catches the big indie films that pop up from universal critical love, I have no idea where to begin, so I would appreciate any recommendations from folk who have the service, or happen to know what's on there.

I get it for free through my library, all I've seen so far is Gaslight, The Holy Mountain, and And Then There Were None. It's kind of a shitty ui.

How to find what to watch? I wrestle with the same issue. I think everyone does. How do you know where to start when these films often do not have known stars? I'm quite familiar with Indieflix I'm the CEO and co-founder. The QuickPick tool is a great place to start as is Staff Picks. You can choose by genre and how much time you have then click QuickPick and curated 15 sec clips will start playing. You just swipe and the next one pops up. It's kind of like flipping channels without ever hitting a commercial. You can also add them to your MyList to watch later. I hope this helps. Some of my favorite short films are, Spider, Bit Players, Down The Road, Bargain, Dik, Project Alpha and the new British crime drama series Injustice or the HBO series from Europe The Inbetweeners. You can find the staff picks under channels. Hope this helps. I'm new to Reddit and totally intimated so I hope I start to get this down and can freely converse with others on this topic. Thank you.

Hey, thanks for responding. I will give your recommendations a look, and maybe give the QuickPick a whirl when I feel, er, more comfortable with it.

When I'm at home tomorrow, I'll reply again with some feedback as a new user, because, as the other commenter in this post said, the UI seems less than favorable for a newbie, among other things. At least as far a first impressions.

Seeing as you're expressing being intimidated by being new to Reddit, I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from. Being a longtime user of Reddit, it all seems so simple to me, just as your site might seem pretty intuitive to you, as someone who is likely looking at it constantly.

So, if you're open to it, I'll hit this thread up again tomorrow.

radicalelation

I never received a reply, so I refrained from giving unrequested criticism, but I did just receive an email sent out to members that seems almost like a direct response to this thread.

On that email though, I had a question and/or request.

You, I'm assuming you're Scilla, say in it:

And, well, that got me thinking. As a general cinephile, I enjoy coming to Reddit to discuss movies, but it's incredibly broad, with either this subreddit, /r/movies , extended across basically every film, to more specific subreddits for individual movies or services, but just aren't very active.

I'm not sure if I will remain an IndieFlix member, but one thing that would potentially keep me locked into such a service would be an active community on the site, beyond comment sections. So, is there any consideration to a proper forum or similar attached to IndieFlix, to discuss past, current, and future content of the service, and maybe even provide a community for filmmakers and movie lovers to mingle?

We are more than a catalog of films online. We are a community of movie lovers whether we make, watch, act in or write them. Our promise to you is to engage you.

Marginalization: The pendulum swings both ways

To marginalize is the process of relegating or confining to a lower or outer limit or edge, as of social standing. Hence, marginalization is the social process of becoming or being made marginal (especially as a group within the larger society): “the marginalization of the underclass” or “the marginalization of literature.” Although marginalization is often defined as the process of making a group or class of people less important or relegated to a secondary position, (e.g., when one class of people is grouped together as second class citizens), this article intends to illuminate the implications of marginalization at the opposite end of the spectrum—outer limit or edge—patronization.

“The marginal man … is one whom fate has condemned to live in two societies and in two, not merely different but antagonistic cultures…. his mind is the crucible in which two different and refractory cultures may be said to melt and, either wholly or in part, fuse.” (Source: E.V. Stonequist)

Marginalization at the individual level results in an individual’s exclusion from meaningful participation in society. An example of marginalization at the individual level is the exclusion of single mothers from the welfare system prior to the welfare reform of the 1900s. The modern welfare system is based on the concept of entitlement to the basic means of being a productive member of society, both as an organic function of society and as compensation for the socially useful labor provided.

A single mother’s contribution to society is not based on formal employment, but on the notion that provision of welfare for children is a necessary social expense. Single mothers were previously marginalized in spite of their significant role in the socializing of children due to two main views:

Today the marginalization is primarily a function of class condition.

Another example of individual marginalization is the exclusion of individuals with disabilities from the labor force. In Dr. Wes Shera’s book “ Guess Men’s Delacruz Sneaker Grey R5BX9gR
,” Grandz discusses an employer’s viewpoint about hiring individuals living with disabilities as jeopardizing productivity, increasing the rate of absenteeism, and creating more accidents in the workplace. Also in this publication, Cantor discusses employer concern about the excessively high cost of accommodating people with disabilities. The marginalization of individuals with disabilities is prevalent today, despite the legislation intended to prevent it in most Western countries, and the academic achievements, skills, and training of many disabled people.
